Sui's Haven

"Are you alright?"

A voice calls out to me quietly amidst the bustling noise on the streets. Not registering anything in my head, the only thing I can feel is the light sting on my shoulder — that, and the slight warmth on my waist.

"Miss? Are you alright?" The voice calls out again.

"Oh- Oh yes! I'm sorry," I regain my senses and hurriedly stabilise my footing. As I do so, the light pressure on my waist eases so that I can put some distance between us, breaking our otherwise very close proximity.

"Um, sorry for bumping into you. I was pretty lost deep within my thoughts. Thank you for catching me."

Unsure of whether she can hear the anxiousness in my voice, I begin apologising, explaining myself and thanking her all at the same time.

"No worries. I apologise as well, I wasn't exactly paying attention either."

How pretty, is all I can think of when looking at the face in front me. Meanwhile, my own face feels dangerously hot, as if the warmth lingering on my back a minute ago has somehow travelled upwards and amplified itself on this cold night.

"Well then, if you're alright, I'll get going. Have a pleasant evening," she continues at my lack of response, and turns around to leave.

"T-thank you again!" I call out immediately after, watching her back as she turns her head slightly in my direction and acknowledges with a nod. I, too, start walking in the direction I was originally headed to, but for some reason I can't stop turning back to catch a few more glimpses of her disappearing figure.

I think I must've been too shocked from earlier, since my heart wouldn't calm down. The unexplainable heat on my face and neck don't seem to be going away. My head is in an absolute mess, unable to remember exactly what I was thinking so deeply about earlier. 

Hah... I'll probably calm down and be back to normal after a good night's sleep... right?
